Step-by-step guide
Directly running the backup utility (DBBackup.exe)
Locate the DBBackup.exe file from POS; it will usually be found in <Ginesys POS installed drive>\Program Files (x86)\GSL\GINESYS POS\DBBackup.exe
Right click on on DBBackup.exe and click on Run as Administrator.
This opens the Backup window.
Click on the Stop Scheduler Service button.
Click on Start Backup Now button.
Once the backup process is complete and successful, start the scheduler service by clicking on the Start Schedule Service button.
Click on Close to close the window.
Prerequisites
Ensure that POS is being run in Administrator mode by right clicking on the POS icon and selecting the Run as Administrator option. Otherwise the system will not allow the user to stop and start the Sync Scheduler and backup cannot be taken.
You need to have Administrator module for your role to take backup from within the application.
If you have an external secondary backup location, ensure it is connected with the system at the time of taking a backup.
Go to Administration from Navigation bar and click on Database under System in the left pane. In the Backup Information section.
Click on Take a FULL Backup Now button. This opens the Backup window.
Click on the Stop Scheduler Service button.
Click on Start Backup Now button.
Note: If the purpose of the backup is to migrate the installation to new server or re-installation of POS server, then Don’t Start Scheduler Service
Once the backup process is complete and successful, start the scheduler service by clicking on the Start Schedule Service button.
Click on Close to close the window.

12.17.0 version onwards a full backup will be taken of the POS database after any migration, restoration or recovery is done at the POS site.
