Ginesys POS v 2.25.0 Installation Guide

Ginesys POS v 2.25.0 Installation Guide

Introduction

This guide offers step-by-step instructions for successfully installing and setting up the POS system. Please follow each step carefully to ensure a smooth installation process.

Prerequisites

Before starting the installation process, ensure you meet the following requirements:

  1. 64-bit OS

  2. For Windows Server, the minimum required version is Windows Server 2016 with build number 1607 or higher. For other systems, Windows 10 with build number 1607 or higher is required.

  3. RAM of 8GB or more

  4. Internet speed of 30 Mbps or higher

  5. Admin permissions to install new software on the system

  6. SQL Server 2022 or higher

Setup Process

1. Install SQL Server

If SQL Server is already installed and its version is earlier than SQL Server 2019, the installation will not proceed. If SQL Server 2019 is installed, the installation will continue with a warning. For better stability and optimal performance, it is recommended to upgrade to SQL Server 2022 or a higher version.

If SQL Server is not already installed, we’ve created an application to ensure a smooth installation process, that will:

  • Install SQL Server 2022 or higher

  • Add a TCP rule to help set up multi-terminal functionality

  • Install SSMS, which will assist the support team in troubleshooting any issues that may arise

If any SQL Server instances are installed, you must back up your data and uninstall those instances before using our application to install SQL Server 2022.

If you’re using our application to install SQL Server, follow these instructions:

  1. Navigate to the setup directory.

  2. Inside, find the ‘SQL Server Setup’ folder.

  3. Run ‘SqlServerSetup.exe’ as an administrator to install SQL Server 2022. The default password will be ‘sa@123#2022’.

  4. For security reasons, change the password as soon as possible after installation.

2. Launch the Installer

To proceed with installing Ginesys POS, go to setup directory, run setup.exe as an administrator. The installer will first install all the necessary prerequisites, including:

  • .NET Framework 4.7.2 (if not already installed)

  • .NET 5 hosting bundle

  • .NET 8 hosting bundle

Failure to install these prerequisites will result in the installation process being aborted.

3. Welcome Page

After the prerequisites are installed, the welcome page will appear. Click Next to proceed.

4. Select Ginesys POS Installation Path

You will be prompted to select the installation directory. The default location is: ‘WindowsDrive:\Program Files (x86)\GSL\GINESYS POS’

5. Complete the Installation

Once the setup is ready, click Install to begin the installation process.

6. Finishing Installation

After the installation, the finish screen will confirm that everything was completed successfully. If there are any issues, you will encounter errors, and the setup will roll back the changes it made.

Post-installation Steps

If you are setting up a new POS, use the Database Locator to create a new database from the template, then launch the POS system by clicking on the desktop shortcut with administrator privileges. Complete the initial setup by following the on-screen instructions.

If you are migrating your POS server, use the DB Restore tool to restore the database, then use the Database Locator to promote the machine to a server and remove the obsolete server. Afterward, take a full backup and proceed as usual.

Since Data Sync is being deprecated, users must set up POS using Live Sync instead of Data Sync when installing with this installer.

Conclusion

You have successfully installed and set up the POS system. You can now start using it for your business operations. For any further assistance, feel free to contact our Ginesys support team at support@ginesys.in.
