POS Auto Updater Fails on Windows 7

Note: All points apply exclusively to 64-bit operating systems. As 32-bit operating systems are not supported, no solutions have been provided for that.

Issue
POS users encounter a failure when updating to a version requiring .NET 5.0, which is unsupported on certain Windows 7 versions.

Solution

  1. Ensure Compatibility: Verify the POS system is running Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate with SP1. Upgrade if needed.

  2. Install Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable:

    • Download from this link.

    • Install the 64-bit version.

    • Restart the system.

  3. Enable Extended Security Updates:

    • Download Windows 7 SP1 ESU here.

    • Install and restart the system.

  4. Install .NET 5.0 Runtime:

  5. Run POS Auto Updater

    Complete the update successfully.

  6. Restart your system.

The updated system will only function after the system is properly restarted.
