How To: Search a Customer in Store
The Search Customer option is used when we need to tag a customer to the bill or edit the customer details.
Steps:
To search for a customer, follow the steps below:
Go to the Customer menu (or press the shortcut key F3) and click on the Search Customer option. You can also search for the customer using the Search Customer option in the POS Taskpad or using the shortcut key Ctrl+1. The Search Customer window opens.
Use the following important search options -
Card number- You can search your customers by entering their loyalty card numbers. It can either be typed in manually or scanned through an RFID scanner.
Mobile number - You can search your customer using their registered phone number. Customer search by mobile number has been enhanced and made quicker, from version 12.24.0 onward. Instead of searching for numbers like the given customer number, the system will search for an exact match.
Name - You can search for your customer by searching their name.
There are 3 search fields here: Customers whose details match the search criteria are reflected in the Found Customer section.
If the search criteria do not match with saved customer details, you will get a message - "No customer is found based on the given criteria, do you want to add a customer now?"
If you click on Yes, Add Customer window will open.
The given search criteria will be populated automatically in that particular field (From the version 11.137.0 onward).
Then follow How To: Add Customer at the Store / POS Back Office.
You may enter more than one field to narrow down your search.
Then click on Search button. The result will be shown in the Found Customer section.
Various other actions can be executed from this window. They are - Tag, Edit and View Points.
To tag the customer, click on the Tag button.
To view the points gained by the customer, click on the View Points button. Points Information window opens. This is a display only window.
Important
The checkbox 'Search in Web' remains ticked by default, which enables us to search the customer both in the local database and the web database (if customer is not found in the local database).
It can be un-ticked, if needed.
