Add Products using RFID for Billing in WebPOS

Speed up your billing process with RFID scanning in Zwing WebPOS. It streamlines the checkout process by automatically detecting products with attached RFID tags, eliminating the need for manual scanning of product barcodes. Continue reading to learn how you can add products to cart using RFID:

Moreover, based on the type of inventory tracking or availability of multiple prices for a product, you will have to make additional decisions:


You need to enable RFID Scanning from Policies in Zwing Console to access this feature.

Add Products to Cart by scanning RFID tags

Zwing WebPOS lets you add multiple products to cart by simply scanning their RFID tags, and will automatically display scanned products on-screen. Follow these steps to add a product with RFID:

  1. From the Cart screen, tap on the Scan RFID button to begin.

  1. The RFID Scan Session dialog will appear, a dedicated space that helps you scan and preview scanned products.

  2. Ensure the Add Items option is selected, as shown below.

  1. You can now start scanning products with RFID tags by bringing them near your scanning device. The scanned products will automatically appear under the Preview Items section on the right as soon as you scan them. Each repeated scan will increase the scanned quantity for the respective product and will be displayed with its preview.

  1. Additionally, the raw Scan Data will be available in the text field on the left. Only make changes to it if required, for example if you have to exclude a product from being added to cart, select and remove the line corresponding to the product from the scan data. To refresh product preview after making changes, tap on the Refresh Preview Items button.

When Anti-theft Mode is Active

With Anti-theft Mode On, you will not be able to add products using the usual barcode scanning or from the product catalog – it will be restricted to only RFID Scan. Here you can observe in the scan data that during scanning, a unique code is prefixed to the product identifier using a delimiter (@ by default), which can be configured using Policies in Zwing Console.

  1. Once the required products and their quantities are displayed on-screen, you can tap on the Add All to Cart button to add scanned products to the cart.

You have successfully added the products to the cart with RFID Scanning.


Add Products with Batch by scanning RFID tags

If a product has Batch inventory tracking and batches in-stock, you will have to select the required Batch before you can add such product to cart.

  1. From the Cart screen, tap on the Scan RFID button to open the RFID Scan Session dialog.

  2. Start scanning products with RFID tags, and the products will automatically appear under the Preview Items section.

  3. Scanned products with batch inventory tracking will appear with the Select Batch button, tap on it to continue.

  1. Select the required batch for the product, then tap on the Confirm Selected button. Alternatively, if you wish to select the same batch for all other scanned quantities of the same product, tap on the Assign to All button.

  1. Once selected, the Batch number will now be visible in place of the Select Batch button under the Preview Items section. You can tap it again to modify your selection or assign to other quantities of the same product. Once satisfied, you can tap on the Add All to Cart button to update your cart.


Add Products with Serial by scanning RFID tags

If a product has Serial inventory tracking and serials in-stock, you will have to select the required Serial before you can add such product to cart.

  1. From the Cart screen, tap on the Scan RFID button to open the RFID Scan Session dialog.

  2. Start scanning products with RFID tags, and the products will automatically appear under the Preview Items section.

  3. Scanned products with serial inventory tracking will appear with the Select Serial button, tap on it to continue.

  1. Select the required serial for the product, then tap on the Confirm Selected button.

  1. Once selected, the Serial number will now be visible in place of the Select Serial button under the Preview Items section. You can tap it again to modify your selection. Once satisfied, you can tap on the Add All to Cart button to update your cart.


Add Products with Multiple Prices by scanning RFID tags

If a product has multiple active prices added in Zwing Console using Retail Pricebooks, you will have to select the required price before you can add such product to cart.

  1. From the Cart screen, tap on the Scan RFID button to open the RFID Scan Session dialog.

  2. Start scanning products with RFID tags, and the products will automatically appear under the Preview Items section.

  3. Scanned products with multiple prices will appear with the Select MRP button, tap on it to continue.

  1. Select the required price set for the product, then tap on the Confirm Selected button. Alternatively, if you wish to select the same price for all other scanned quantities of the same product, tap on the Assign to All button.

  1. Once selected, the selected price will now be visible in place of the Select MRP button under the Preview Items section. You can tap it again to modify your selection or assign to other quantities of the same product. Once satisfied, you can tap on the Add All to Cart button to update your cart.


Once products are added to the cart, you can perform further actions such as assigning salespersons, applying item-level customer benefits, including manual discounts, promotions, or price override – before proceeding to Checkout.
